Role of HR in Change Management

Human resources are an essential component of every change project, whether they are in the form of an HR change manager contributing to the change team or serving in a more supportive capacity.HR is an organization's "people" department, and successful organizational change mostly depends on its people.

A Forbes report claims that 62% of people dislike stepping outside of their comfort zone. Since it frequently necessitates a shift in behavior and routines, change is difficult. It pushes individuals beyond their comfort zones.

When someone is asked to change, their resistance to the request usually stems from an emotional source and can be quite personal. HR's role as a change agent assists in bridging the gap between a change project's requirements and how that change is personally impacting employees.

The following are typical responsibilities involved in the function of HR and change management, although each organization may implement HR change management examples slightly differently.

·         Designing and scheduling of trainings for change management

    The HRM department is frequently in charge of creating and carrying out training programs to assist staff members in adjusting to changes. Additionally, they will be well aware of the organizational culture and the potential reactions of various staff members to change.

·         Communicator of Change

    By communicating the transition process in a clear and open manner, HR can effectively allay these worries. HR may lessen opposition and facilitate a more seamless transition by responding to employee questions and providing relevant information.

·         Understanding opposition to change

     It's normal for employees to be resistant to change, and efficient change management depends on knowing why. HRMs are excellent collaborators in determining obstacles and creating solutions.

·         Engagement with employees

    HRM uses town hall meetings, consultation sessions, and communication channels to encourage staff involvement in change management.

·         Resolving conflicts

   HRM promotes constructive employee relations and workplace transformation by assisting in the settlement of organizational conflicts.

·         Recruitment for change management

       HRM is essential to hiring the right people to carry out change projects successfully.

·         Encourage staff members' health and well-being while the company changes

      Payroll and benefits are only two aspects of HRM; it's also a strategic partner that encourages employee wellbeing and helps workers through transformation.

·         Organizational change through performance management

  HRM provides tools, training, and a feedback culture to support performance management throughout transformation.

·         Rewarding

    HRM provides chances for career advancement and aligns compensation with change activities to offer a reward system during times of transition. 

      It is obvious that HRM can be quite important to making sure organizational change is successful.
